Founded on a family tradition of jewellery making established in Florence in 1885, Carolina Bucci represents four generations of goldsmith craftsmanship. While internationally recognised for contemporary design, the house remains closely connected to the workshop culture and artisanal traditions of the city's historic jewellery quarter.

Carolina Bucci’s story begins long before the designer herself. The family’s jewellery workshop was established in Florence in 1885 by Ferdinando Bucci, at a time when the city’s goldsmith tradition remained concentrated around the Ponte Vecchio and its surrounding streets. Over successive generations, the workshop developed specialised knowledge in chain making, finishing techniques and handcrafted gold work, becoming part of a broader ecosystem of Florentine jewellery production.

What distinguishes the house today is the continuity between inheritance and innovation. Rather than abandoning traditional methods, Carolina Bucci has built her work upon them, adapting historic techniques for contemporary audiences. Collections such as Woven draw inspiration from Tuscan textile traditions, while her signature Florentine Finish transforms an established gold-working process into a recognisable visual language. The result is jewellery that remains visibly connected to place and craft rather than detached from them.

The family’s workshop continues to operate within Florence’s historic goldsmith district, preserving a direct relationship between design and production that has become increasingly rare within the jewellery industry. This continuity is reinforced by the involvement of multiple generations of the Bucci family, ensuring that knowledge is transferred through practice rather than merely documented.

The opening of the Florence flagship in Palazzo Spini Ferroni in 2023 marked a symbolic return to the city that shaped the house. Yet the significance of Carolina Bucci lies less in the boutique itself than in the survival of a craft tradition rooted in Florence for nearly a century and a half. It remains an example of how historic skills can evolve without losing their identity.
