The Camargue is unlike any other region in Provence. Formed between the two branches of the Rhône, it is a landscape of wetlands, salt marshes, grazing land and open horizons shaped by centuries of agricultural and pastoral traditions. Le Mas de Peint sits at the heart of this environment.

Built in 1602, the mas forms the centre of a working estate that continues to raise Camargue bulls and horses while cultivating organic rice across the surrounding land. The property is not simply inspired by the Camargue; it remains an active participant in its economy, culture and identity.

The estate entered a new chapter in 1979 when Jacques Bon established a manade on the property and, together with his wife Lucille, undertook the restoration of the historic farmhouse. Their intention was not to create a destination detached from its surroundings, but a place that reflected the rhythms and realities of life in the Camargue.

Today, the estate remains in family hands, with a new generation continuing the work begun more than four decades ago. Guests encounter not a staged version of the region but a living landscape where agriculture, hospitality and local traditions remain closely connected.

What distinguishes Le Mas de Peint is this continuity. The hotel exists because the estate exists. The experience is rooted in a working landscape, making it one of the most authentic expressions of the Camargue still accessible to visitors today.

Set within hundreds of hectares of marshland, pasture and rice fields near Arles, Le Mas de Peint offers one of the most complete expressions of the Camargue. More than a hotel, it is a working estate where hospitality remains inseparable from the landscape, traditions and agricultural life that surround it.
