Tuba

Les Goudes marks the southern edge of Marseille. Beyond it lies the Calanques National Park, a landscape of limestone cliffs, hidden coves and intensely blue water that has long defined the relationship between the city and the sea. Tuba Club sits directly within this environment, occupying a building whose history mirrors that of the neighbourhood itself.

Originally a fishing structure and later a small hotel, nightclub and diving club, the building has always remained connected to the water. Its latest transformation preserved that spirit while introducing a contemporary identity rooted in simplicity, design and a strong sense of place.

The restaurant is arranged around terraces suspended above the rocks, creating one of the most compelling dining settings on the Mediterranean coast. Seafood remains central to the menu, reflecting both the traditions of Marseille and the daily rhythm of the harbour nearby. The atmosphere is informal, sociable and unmistakably local.

Interior designer Marion Mailaender drew inspiration from the modest architecture of the coastline and from Le Corbusier's celebrated Cabanon. Natural materials, simple forms and nautical references create interiors that feel relaxed rather than curated.

What distinguishes Tuba Club is not luxury in the conventional sense. It is the immediacy of the experience. The sea is everywhere — visible from the tables, accessible from the rocks below and inseparable from the identity of the place.

More than a restaurant, Tuba Club captures a particular vision of contemporary Marseille: creative, informal and deeply connected to the Mediterranean.
