Enamoura

Enamoura begins with light, but its deeper subject is memory.

Magali Avignon founded the studio in Marseille in 2021 after growing up near L'Isle sur la Sorgue, surrounded by the textures, objects and domestic rituals of Provence. Her grandmother Lisette became the first and most important reference point. The first lamp bore her name, and the collection that followed expanded through a family of forms called Ursule, Pitchoun, Yvonne, Maria, Lili and Rosario.

This naming is not decorative. It gives the work emotional structure. Each piece becomes part object, part portrait, part tribute.

The luminaires are shaped by hand from materials closely associated with the South: terracotta, mixed clay, chamotte stoneware, glazed and flamed surfaces, woven wicker and Limoges porcelain. Their forms are simple but not minimal, carrying the slight irregularities and warmth of objects made by hand. Many can function as suspensions, wall lights or portable lamps through interchangeable fittings, allowing the collection to adapt without losing its identity.

Avignon presents the work at La Remise, her boutique-atelier in Marseille's Vauban quarter. The space operates as a home, showroom and working environment rather than a conventional shop. Luminaires are grouped into constellations, creating compositions of varied forms and materials that reveal the collection at its most expressive.

Enamoura is a young studio, but its language is already coherent. It does not reproduce historic Provençal objects literally. Instead, it carries forward their material intelligence, domestic scale and relationship to light.

NOTES includes Enamoura because it demonstrates how regional craft can remain contemporary without becoming generic. The work is rooted in Provence, but not trapped by nostalgia.
